The first English explorers began nosing about Frankfort in the early 1750s, though the site wasn't settled as the state capital until 1792. Our first statehouse burned in 1813. The second burned in 1824. The third time was the charm, and you can still see the “Old Capitol” here in town. The “New Capitol,” dedicated in 1910, is considered one of the country's most beautiful-its Beaux Arts style features many murals and statues of Kentucky's most famous citizens. While you're there, be sure to see the Floral Clock, a 34-foot diameter timepiece made from thousands of flowers on the West Lawn.
Book your room today at the Hampton Inn® hotel in Frankfort and be sure to amble by the front desk for some tips on how to enjoy all of the historic and cultural attractions our beautiful Kentucky town has to offer.
