Soaring 630 feet above downtown St. Louis, the Arch is the tallest national landmark in the United States. It took 900 tons of stainless steel to build! When you gaze at the Arch, think on the fact that it was designed and constructed in the early 1960s-before the advent of the computer. One of the most popular rides in the West is the tram, inside the Arch, that carries visitors to the observation windows. Afterwards take a sightseeing excursion on the Mississippi River or visit Laclede's Landing, a nine-block entertainment district with cobblestone streets. Then catch a game at Busch Stadium - our downtown St. Louis hotel is just a short walk away.
Indulge in one of St. Louis's most charming culinary landmarks at the Eat-Rite Diner of Route 66. The site, recently refurbished for Hampton® Hotels' Save-A-Landmark® Program, was built about 100 years ago as a coffee shop for railroad crews. In 1940, it became the "Eat-Rite Diner" and coined its motto, "Eat-Rite or don't eat at all." Today, its "early" rock & roll friendly atmosphere and delicious burgers served at a chrome bar with only stools make it a veritable time capsule of the '50s. Hampton® Hotel volunteers painted the building to help restore it to its former glory.
