The area around the Hampton Inn & Suites® hotel in Ephrata at Mountain Springs holds plenty of activities for those looking for wholesome, family fun. Our town started as a religious community and soon began attracting tourists as a resort destination. Mountain Springs began as a resort hotel in the 1800s. You'll find historic buildings all over town-from our local railroad station to the Ephrata National Bank. The Ephrata Cloister, which was founded in 1732, shouldn't be missed. Its 28-acre complex is open for tours. Love antiques? Visit nearby Adamstown. The city boasts 5,000 dealers. Of course, being in an area with a Dutch and German background, you'd expect some excellent food. You'll find it at the Sturgis Pretzel Factory, which is open for tours. You can get a lesson in pretzel twisting and nibble on Dutch, thin, sugar, honey mustard, hot cheese, hard and soft pretzels. The nearby Wilbur Chocolate Factory is also a food-lover's paradise. You'll see the candy machines and candy makers create almond bark, pralines, caramel crunch and other delights. Lastly, don't miss Dutch Wonderland Amusement Park. They boast a “Kingdom for Kids” for those under 12. It's just a short drive from our hotel in Ephrata.
