Relax on the beaches or make a splash with water sports at the Isle of Palms beach, located four miles from the Hampton Inn & Suites Charleston/Mt. Pleasant - Isle of Palms. Tour the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, where you can board the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier; or see the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum. Our hotel in Mount Pleasant also gives you easy access to historic Fort Sumter, as well as the famous Charleston Museum.
Take a poignant journey back through time with a visit to the USS Laffey Destroyer. The historic ship was recently revitalized as part of Hampton Hotels Save-A-Landmark® Program. Laffey, the only surviving World War II destroyer that saw action in the Atlantic, helped bombard Normandy in the D-Day landing. In the Pacific, the ship that would not die survived kamikaze duels in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Today, the USS Laffey is recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
Get a dose of culture at the Gibbes Museum of Art; or get in touch with nature at the nearby Angel Oak - a 65-foot, 1,400-year-old oak tree. Take a short drive out to Sullivan's Island and enjoy a tour of the Sullivan's Island Lighthouse and Fort Moultrie.
