Just down the road from our Hampton Inn® hotel in Plover/Stevens Point, guests may visit a spot called “Island of Green.” It's a 275-acre natural area named Schmeeckle Reserve and dedicated to “protect and restore native ecological communities” here in Wisconsin. You'll find it to be a rich and fascinating place to visit. A lot of people are talking about “going green” these days. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been studying environmental issues since 1946, when it introduced the nation's first “conservation education” major. You can see evidence of their work all around our hotel. In Plover, you'll find many other beautiful natural areas inviting to guests: the skiing at Nordic Mountain, Bluebird Lake, and Lake Pacawa. For a day of golf, give Sentry World a shot. Its 6,951-yard course was designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Finally, if you've brought the children, swing by Rainbow Falls Water Park for a crowd-free day of splashy fun.
